Nestlé Hungária has started another significant investment at its production site in Bük, following the announcement of a 50 billion euro development a year ago. The investment included not only the expansion of production capacity but also the redesign of roads and parking lots in the southern area of Bük Nestlé Ltd.
Under the paved surfaces, galvanised steel firewater tanks were installed, providing a safe and sustainable solution for the firewater supply to the area. The storage of rainwater and its recycling as firewater is an environmentally friendly application.
Six of the corrugated steel tanks, each 2.4 m in diameter and 13 m long, were installed, giving the system a total capacity of 360,000 litres (360 m3). The corrugated steel reservoirs retain the beneficial structural stability properties of corrugated steel pipes, thanks to the positive interaction between soil and steel. The flexible steel structure transfers loads to the surrounding embankment.
